The official mobile app
Facebook for Android is an app that allows you to connect to the vast features of the social media platform on your android phone. You can post statuses, upload photos, and drop comments on posts you find on your timeline. The app is well-designed; it offers seamless navigation and content sharing. Facebook for Android also offers dark mode in some devices.
The world in your pocket
The social network has evolved into a media Goliath since its 2004 inception. If you want to stay connected, log in to other apps with ease, organize events, and promote your mission, download Facebook for Android. This app will keep you updated with a global news feed, posts from friends, and local events in your community. It doesn’t have all of the same features as the Windows version, but it’s good if you’re on the move.
An aesthetically pleasing interface
The app has an attractive minimalist design to the timeline which is lighter and makes use of ample white space. While there is much less usage of the recognizable Facebook blue blocks, users can find the menu and all of the features in the same place. The interface is aesthetically pleasing and easy to navigate.
Your feed
Like Instagram, Facebook Mobile presents users with a streamlined feed. The timeline shows content from news channels, influencers, and businesses first and then posts from your friends. If you keep seeing status updates that you don’t like, you can unfollow users and pages. Once you hit the dislike button it will signal the FB algorithm.
Stay in touch
Facebook is the best way for keeping updated on the lives of our friends and family, but it also can grow your network. If you’re travelling around the world, meeting loads of interesting people, you’ll want to have this app on your mobile device. It’s the best way to keep in touch, even when life takes you down different roads.
Change the settings in your device to allow for Facebook notifications. You can customize these so that you only receive the most important updates.
Keep your social life organized
On the main interface there’s a hamburger menu at the bottom right corner. You’ll see separate tabs for some of the main features. Groups help you to stay updated with fan bases, friends, colleagues, and other people with similar interests and hobbies. The content in the feed is different, but it's presented in the same aesthetically pleasing way.
Spread your word
Business owners and activists know that Facebook is much more than the average social media app. This platform and others like Instagram and WhatsApp, are essential communication tools to promote any brand or organization. Customers turn to FB to read reviews, check contact information, and establish trust with businesses.
The app also offers innovative tools for event planning. From your News Feed, you can create an event, set the name, date, and location, choose your privacy settings and then add the friends that you wish to invite. You can also pick other members to be admins, and they can spread the invite throughout their own network.
At the bottom of the interface you’ll see a tab for the Facebook Marketplace. This page is a collection of buy-and-sell groups that allow entrepreneurs to sell their product to a wider audience. Buyers can scroll through a selection of items and compare prices.
Seamlessly share media
With FB mobile you can upload pictures and videos from your gallery. You can choose to add content as a status or into one of your photo albums. Once the image is uploaded you can crop them and add beautiful filters.
If you upload multiple photos at once, they will appear as a collage on your pictures. When your followers view tap on the images, it will open a new page with a full-size display where they can interact by commenting or liking.
Document your favorite moments
Facebook Live provides a platform for users to broadcast video in real time straight from their smartphone. While your are streaming you will be able to see the number of viewers and their comments or reactions. These are presented to your followers alongside in a bubble that appears at the top of the screen.
Next to the live videos are the stories. You can upload a video by tapping the ‘+’ on the top-left corner. Upload videos, shoot selfies, or add text and then add fun filters and stickers. If you add texts, the background layer will fill the screen and you can customize it will solid color or gradient.
These will only be visible for 24 hours and are a great way to engage an audience whether you want to vent about an opinion, promote a business, or record an event.
Find friends
Nearby Friends uses GPS to show you where your friends are on a map. This is similar to Apple’s Find My Friends app. Facebook does not automatically activate this, but you can turn it on by touching the icon on the top-right. You’ll be directed to your chatlist where you can find where friends are around you.
The GPS feature is similar to sharing your location on WhatsApp. You will have to manually share your location and choose how long it will be visible. If you’re lost in the crowd, just share where you are so your friends can meet up with you. On the flip side, this can also help you avoid anyone you don’t want to see.
A few limitations
Facebook for Android has most of the features that the web app has, except for the ability to send messages inside of the app. In order to access your chats, you’ll want to download Messenger. If you have it downloaded on your phone or tablet, you will receive notifications from FB and be redirected to messenger.
Constant improvements
Facebook for Android is packed with interesting features that fit today’s fast-paced lifestyle. The interface provides an effortless scrolling experience with tailored content. Developers are rigorously updating this app to improve the UI and UX of this mobile app. Recent updates have improved the responsiveness and speed of the app. There have also been security fixes related to the token access manager.
